2020 13" MacBook Pro LCD Screen Replacement overview
There are two models when it comes to 2020 Mac laptop series. One is Intel based and the other one is Apple based processor called M1. They both use similar looking but different screens meaning the Intel screen will not work with M1 model. After getting the proper screen we first open the bottom cover. Bottom cover has 6 screws which needs a specific screw driver. The cover does not come off easily. You have to have a suction cup to unlock the cover and slow and gently push is to one direction. After the cover is removed, battery needs to be disconnected. There are around 50 screw securing different parts of the screen to the body of the machine. This includes hinges screws, wifi antenna screws, LCD connector screws and all other screws of the screen. After disconnecting the main lcd cable, the screen can be lifted and thus replaced with the new screen.
This whole process takes about 20-30 minutes for someone who already has done it. For new users, it may take up to an hour. The total cost for this job is around $600. If you have not done it before, I strongly recommend letting an Apple Certified Technician do the job for you just to avoid any accidental damage.
